High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mauritius pays farewell call on PM Jugnauth

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mauritius, Ms Rezina Ahmed, paid a farewell call, this afternoon, on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.

In a statement after the meeting, Ms Rezina Ahmed recalled that she has spent more than five years in Mauritius as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mauritius. She expressed gratitude to the Government of Mauritius and Prime Minister Jugnauth for all the cooperation and support she received during her tenure.

She further stated that the bilateral relations between Mauritius and Bangladesh have grown over the years adding that she is looking forward to witnessing the further strengthening of relations between the two nations, particularly, in trade and commerce.

Ms Ahmed also spoke about Bangladeshi workers who are in Mauritius and who are contributing to the development of both economies. She added that some Memoranda of Understanding are yet to be signed adding that once concluded they will further deepen bilateral relations between Mauritius and Bangladesh.

She stated that Prime Minister Jugnauth also conveyed his best wishes to her for her future endeavours and also expressed the wish that bilateral relations between the two nations be further reinforced. She also announced that she has been transferred to Portugal as Ambassador.

Ms Rezina Ahmed, who is a career diplomat, belonging to the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs), joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1994. She served in Bangladesh Mission in Canberra, Moscow, Yangon and Milan in different capacities. In Bangladesh, she served in different wings of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She attended different training courses at home and abroad; and represented Bangladesh in many bilateral and multilateral meetings.

Ms Rezina Ahmed completed her Bachelor and Master of Social Sciences degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. Her hobbies are reading, music and movies. She is married with two children.
