Hindi Elocution Contest 2023: Students of Grade 11 and 12 rewarded

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The final of the Secondary School Hindi Elocution Contest 2023, organised by the Hindi Speaking Union under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, in collaboration with the World Hindi Secretariat (WHS), was held, today, at the seat of the WHS in Phoenix.

Several personalities including the Secretary General of the WHS, Dr Madhouree Ramdharee, and the President of the Hindi Speaking Union, Dr Oudaye Narain Gangoo, were present.

The elocution contest saw the participation of 17 Secondary School Students of Grade 11 and 12 from across the country. The event aimed at continuously promoting Hindi language among the youth through innovative and creative ways.

Speaking at the event, Dr Ramdharee underlined the concerted efforts that were being made in Mauritius to promote Hindi language among the youth, and expressed satisfaction as regards the participation of the students in the contest.

The importance of encouraging the use of Hindi through elocution contest and other competitions was highlighted by Dr Gangoo. The winners of the competition are as follows:

The first prize winner was Mr Nikhil Japaul from DAV College, Rose Belle. He received a cheque of Rs 5,000. Ms Khushee Ramdhorny from Rabindranath Tagore College won the second prize and obtained a cheque of Rs 3,000.

The third prize was awarded to Ms Samiksha Mungur from Forest Side Academy. She received a cheque of Rs 2,000. The three winners won each a shield and a medal. The remaining participants received a cheque of Rs 1,000 and a medal, each.
