HSC results: MES director returns the ball to Cambridge

The results of the Higher School Certificate will be published by the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate on September 17, as announced by the express in its Thursday edition. However, this decision is not unanimous because Cambridge will announce the results on August 10 and parents and students concerned do not understand why the authorities are making them wait until mid-September. They believe that announcing the results on September 17 will penalize students who wish to enroll at a European university.

After the publication of our article, Thursday, the director of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate, Brenda Thanacoody-Soborun, chose to explain herself on this subject, in the evening, on the television news of 7:30 p.m. of the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation. The latter explained that the MES has taken measures to help those who aspire to be admitted to a university abroad.

According to a statement issued by this body, Cambridge informed The Universities and Colleges Admission Services (UCAS) and the Central Application Office of Ireland of the date of the announcement of the results in Mauritius. The MES director also explained that MES will be able to provide a letter written by Cambridge to those who wish to register with a university in a country other than England and Ireland. Those wishing that the university they have chosen receive their results directly will be able to use the Priority reserve as of September 17. Those interested will have until September 1 to register.

Except that this affair is far from ending there. We will come back to that.
