Africa-Press – Mauritius. Mr Ibrahim Edoo, also known as Alfred, born on 17 December 1925, celebrated his 100th birthday yesterday at his residence in Port Louis during a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity.
The Minister of Housing and Lands, Mr Shakeel Mohamed; the Minister of Land Transport, Mr Osman Mahomed; the Minister of Industry, SME and Cooperatives, Mr Aadil Ameer Meea; the Member of Parliament, Mr Ehsan Juman and other personalities were present at the event.
The new centenarian was offered a flower bouquet; a centenarian medal; a certificate; a cheque of Rs 26,203; and an oven.
Additionally, he received a cheque of Rs 10,000 from the National Solidarity Fund and gifts from the Senior Citizens Council. He was presented with a special telephone service.
Mr Edoo was religiously married to Miss Mawlabaccos Bibi Cateeze and had four sons and one daughter. He has ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The new centenarian attributes his longevity to his unwavering faith in God and good eating habits.
