Africa-Press – Mauritius. Thirty research scholars of Cultural Literature, Sahityik Sanskritik Shodh, are on a research tour, in Mauritius, from 9 May to 14 May 2022, to contribute to the world encyclopaedia of Ramayana in many volumes. They are participating in seminars/ workshops on Ramayana organised by the Brihad Purohit Sangh.
In this context, Indian delegates, including Mr Pradeep Kumar Singh, Mr Krishna Ji Srivastav, and Mr Rama Shankar Sukla, as well as two Executives Members of Brihad Purohit Sangh, namely the President, Mr Gian Dhunnookchand, and the Assistant Secretary, Mr Ashok Chintaram, met, this afternoon, the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, at the State House, in Réduit.
In a statement after the meeting, Mr Krishna Ji Srivastav said that they had the opportunity during their visit to witness the Indian and Mauritian cultures in the community. He stressed that the Ramayana was a pious book that taught about sympathy, truth, kindness and sacrifice.
He underlined that the objective of organising a workshop on Ramayana was to share with common people the importance of religion and to spread message of kindness to the society.
As for Mr Gian Dhunnookchand, he stated that the delegation was currently writing the second, third, fourth and fifth volumes of a set of encyclopaedias on Ramayana. He recalled that the Ramayana was a great epic on human values.
He further indicated that the delegation had met various dignitaries during its visit in Mauritius and could gather much information regarding the Ramayana in the Mauritian context.
He also informed that their objective was to write up to 50 volumes and to disseminate knowledge about the subject matter around the world. A copy of the first volume was offered to the President.
