Africa-Press – Mauritius. A first batch of the Mauritian delegation of the forthcoming Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) 2023, to be held in Madagascar from 25 August to 03 September departed from the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, this afternoon, in Plaisance.
In this context, The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Stephan Toussaint, met with the athletes, the representatives of different federations, coaches and stakeholders.
The second and the third batch will depart for Madagascar on 23 and 24 August 2023, respectively. In a statement, the Sports Minister, highlighted that the Mauritian delegation is one of the largest groups that the country is sending for a sports competition internationally.
He encouraged the athletes to perform at their very best so as to make the country proud. Minister Toussaint also called on the population to fly the Mauritian flag on their houses during the games as a sign of encouragement and support to the Mauritian athletes and team.
