Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Chargé d’Affaires en pied of the Republic of Indonesia in Madagascar, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Mauritius, the Republic of Seychelles, and the Union of the Comoros, Mr Benny Yan Pieter Siahaan, paid a farewell call on the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, this morning, in Port-Louis.

In a statement, Mr Siahaan highlighted the purpose of his visit to Mauritius was to meet the Foreign Affairs Minister and review important issues pertaining to the bilateral relations of Indonesia and Mauritius.

He informed that key topics of discussions included the request of the Government of Mauritius to the Indonesian authorities for visa facilitation on arrival. Furthermore, they also spoke about the Preferential Trade Agreement that both countries are expected to sign this year.

The Chargé d’Affaires en pied moreover pointed out that Indonesia is considering undertaking collaboration with Mauritius in the field of labour to address the shortage that Mauritius is currently facing.

Discussions with Minister Gobin also focused on new avenues of cooperation including the blue economy, for which the assistance of Indonesia in the field of aquaculture is being sought.
