Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint, met this morning in Port-Louis, the newly appointed National Coaches of the men’s and women’s national football teams participating in the Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) being hosted by Madagascar in August 2023.
In a statement after the meeting, the Sports Minister said that his Ministry and the Mauritius Football Association have officialised the teams of coaches that will train the men’s and women’s national football teams.
The Minister informed that Mr Kersley Levrai, as coach along with assistant, Ms Marie Aurielle Collet, have been selected for the training of the women’s team, while Mr Fidy Rasoanaivo, with assistant, Mr Sakoor Boodhun, will be coaching the men’s team.
Mr Stephan Toussaint added that both teams will come up with an action plan to maximise training and preparation of the athletes for the Games. He indicated that the training of the athletes will be held at Côte d’Or National Sports Complex and emphasised that they will also benefit from training at the High-Performance Centre.
The Minister further indicated that a technical meeting will be held shortly to take stock and make a follow up of the preparations being made by the coaches. Mr Toussaint also urged the population to support the coaches and the athletes who will represent Mauritius in the Games.
