J-2 Senior African Athletics Championships: Information provided to media

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The latest information regarding the 22nd African Senior Athletics Championships to be held from 08 to 12 June 2022 in Mauritius, were provided by the President of the Organising Committee, Mr Giandev Moteea, yesterday, during a meeting with the media at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex.

Following the meeting, a site visit was carried out in the complex to ensure the smooth running of the athletics. A souvenir magazine which is both in English and French was launched on the occasion.

Furthermore, a media guide with all details related to the Athletics Championships was also provided. As at yesterday the following updates were provided:

After previously hosting two editions of the African Championships back in 1992 and 2006, Mauritius is gearing up to become the capital of African athletics. The first African Championships in athletics dates back to 1979, hosted in Senegal. This year marks the 43 years of African athletics

The events for men include: hurdles, decathlon, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put, hammer, and javelin; and for women: hurdles, heptathlon, high jump, pole vault, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin.
