Japan Karate Association officially remits Karate Black Belt to Prime Minister Jugnauth

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Vice-President of International Affairs of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) and Chief Instructor of JKA Mauritius, Mr Shihan Koichiro Okuma, as well as the Chairman of JKA Mauritius, Dr Didier Samfat, officially remitted a Karate Black Belt, today at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis, to the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.
They were accompanied by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mauritius, Mr Shuichiro Kawaguchi. In a statement, Ambassador Kawaguchi highlighted that the Karate Black Belt which was remitted to the Prime Minister demonstrates appreciation for Mr Jugnauth’s commitment to promote sports, including Karate, in Mauritius.
The Ambassador further emphasised that Karate is not only a sport but also a form of self-discipline. He also reminded that self-discipline plays an important part in nation-building.
For his part, Mr Okuma underlined that the Karate Black Belt shows appreciation for Prime Minister Jugnauth’s and the Mauritian Government’s support to JKA Mauritius’ activities.
Japan Karate Association It is recalled that the JKA is the only legal entity officially approved by the Japanese Government as an association of members of public interest for the promotion of Karate.
To date, the JKA World Federation (JKA/WF) is the largest and most prestigious Shotokan Karate organisation in the world (present in more than 122 countries) and is currently headed by Shuseki Shihan Masaaki Ueki Sensei 9th Dan.
The JKA Mauritius is registered under the provisions of the Registration of Associations Act 1978 and is officially a branch of JKA/WF. It encompasses more than 20 Training Centres and 35 instructors covering all regions of Mauritius whilst strictly following the syllabus, programme, rules and regulations of JKA in Tokyo.
