Africa-Press – Mauritius. A delegation comprising members of the House of Representatives of Japan and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr.

Alan Ganoo, yesterday afternoon, in Port Louis. The delegation comprised two Members of the House of Representatives, Mr. Daishiro Yamagiwa and Mr. Hideki Makihara, as well as two Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, namely Mr.

Mitsuru Kodaira and Mr. Hayato Obata. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan, Mr Shuichiro Kawaguchi, was also present on the occasion.

During the courtesy call, discussions focused on the possibility of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Mauritius and Japan in various areas including the promotion of trade and investment relations, climate change, renewable energy, desalination of seawater and maritime security.

The participation of Mauritius in the 9th TICAD Summit and the World Expo to be held in Japan in 2025 was also brought forth at the meeting. The Japanese delegation seized the opportunity to announce that a public-private delegation from Japan will visit Mauritius in May 2023 with a view to promoting business relations between both countries.
