Africa-PressMauritius. He had twice given inconsistent answers in the context of the judicial inquiry to elucidate the circumstances of the death of jockey Nooresh Juglall on May 15 at Champ-de-Mars.

For this reason, the magistrate of the district court of Port-Louis, had called for an investigation concerning Dr. Rehan Oozeerkhan, doctor of the Mauritius Turf Club (MTC).

Tuesday, September 21, Me Nataraj Mooneesamy, of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), indicated that the police investigation to determine if the witness had shown perjury during his testimony in court is almost completed: “Dr.

Oozeerkhan has already given his version to the police. ” The latter had received a warning from magistrate Shavina Jugnauth who reminded him that he was testifying under oath and that he should not give false testimony.

This, after he had stated that when the victim was on the runway, he had placed her on the left side to facilitate his breathing but faced with images which did not demonstrate this procedure, he had conceded that the manipulation had been done in the ambulance.

Me Yahia Nazroo, who represents the interests of the Mauritius Turf Club Sports and Leisure (MTCSL) asked Dr Oozeerkhan if the jockey had received treatment immediately after his fall.

The witness replied in the affirmative, adding that it was Dr Dawal and Nursing Officer, Mooneea who had accompanied the jockey in the ambulance to the City Clinic, Port Louis.

“I stayed on the track to provide medical attention and to make sure the second ambulance takes care of the other jockey but I cannot say if any other injury incidents took place after the 7th race.

I just wrote a report on jockey Juglall before handing it over to Benoît Halbwachs at MTC. ” The meeting was adjourned. It will resume on Monday September 27 and Tuesday September 28 with the testimony of Dr. Dawal.
