Africa-Press – Mauritius. Jordan Ayew opened his Championship account for the 2025/26 season as Leicester City battled to a 2-2 draw against Oxford United.
The Ghanaian forward was lively from the onset and came close in the 11th minute when his low drive was well saved by Oxford goalkeeper Nathan Cumming, as Leicester pushed for an immediate response after conceding in the 9th minute.
Just two minutes later, Ayew got his reward. Pouncing on a poor back-pass, he showed great composure, taking a neat touch before drilling a precise finish beyond Cumming to bring Leicester level at 1-1.
The game continued at a high tempo, with both sides trading chances, and eventually ended in a 2-2 stalemate. For Ayew, however, it was a personal milestone, marking his first league goal in Leicester colours this season and a performance that highlighted his experience and sharpness in front of goal.
