Africa-Press – Mauritius. FC Barcelona has set its sights on Colombian winger Luis Díaz to bolster the left flank this summer. After securing the signing of goalkeeper Joan Garcia, the Blaugranas are now fully focused on strengthening their attack—and Díaz has emerged as the top target.
Under contract with Liverpool until 2027, Luis Diaz is reportedly eager to join Barça, fueling optimism within the Catalan club’s hierarchy.
However, negotiations are far from straightforward. According to The Times, there has been no formal contact between the two clubs, and Liverpool is standing firm on a steep €80 million price tag. That figure is well beyond what Barça is currently willing—or able—to pay, especially given their ongoing financial restrictions. Still, behind the scenes, Barcelona is hoping that the player’s desire to make the move could eventually pressure the Reds into lowering their demands.
Díaz, who has scored 17 goals this season, is seen by sporting director Deco as a perfect match for new manager Hansi Flick’s system. Barcelona is also watching Liverpool’s spending closely, particularly their recent acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong and their reported interest in Florian Wirtz.
If Liverpool needs to balance the books, the Spanish giants hope to benefit. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is being considered as a more affordable alternative if the Díaz operation fails to materialize.
