Africa-Press – Mauritius. Manchester City dominated underdogs Luton Town 5-1 to top the English Premier League table for the first time since Nov. 25.

Man City took a very early lead at their home Etihad after Luton Town’s Daiki Hashioka scored an own goal in the second minute.

The first half ended 1-0.

Man City doubled the lead in the 64th minute after Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic vicious right-footed volley.

Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland scored from penalty to make it 3-0 for Manchester City.

Luton Town narrowed the gap to two goals. English midfielder Ross Barkley scored in the area in the 81st minute after Man City defense’s mistake.

Belgian winger Jeremy Doku scored a solo-effort goal for Man City in the 87th minute. He finished after speed dribbling into the area from the left flank. Hosts were on a 4-1 lead.

In the injury time, Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol’s effort from the penalty arc beat Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski. So Man City won the match 5-1.

Leaders Man City have 73 points in 32 matches.

Title contenders Arsenal and Liverpool have a game in hand each. They have 71 points.

Arsenal will meet fourth-place Aston Villa on Sunday at London’s Emirates Stadium. On the same day Liverpool will host Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Aston Villa have 60 points before their visit to Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur have 60 points after a 4-0 loss at Newcastle United on Saturday.
