Africa-Press – Mauritius. Marc Brys has officially resigned from his role as head coach of the Cameroon national team, submitting his decision in a letter dated July 21, 2025.
The Belgian tactician’s departure follows a turbulent tenure marked by persistent tensions with FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o. From the beginning, Brys faced resistance regarding his autonomy, especially around staff selection, with the federation reportedly imposing personnel without prior consultation.
The situation escalated when Brys refused to work with the coaching team designated by FECAFOOT, which led to a complete breakdown in collaboration. Sources close to the matter revealed that trust between Brys and Eto’o had eroded to the point of no return. Media outlets in Cameroon had long pointed to a hostile climate within the national team structure, further strained by rumors of unpaid wages and internal power struggles.
In his resignation letter, Brys cited a work environment incompatible with his professional values. He chose to walk away from a project he described as undermined by political interference and a lack of institutional support. His departure leaves Cameroon’s football leadership facing renewed scrutiny just months before crucial international fixtures.
