Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Mauritian Youth Ambassadors of the 2023 Pan African Youth Leadership Program and the National Youth Parliament (NYP) and the National Student Council​ (NSC), paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, today, at the State House, in Reduit.

Discussions focused on the NSC and its aspirations; cultural exchanges, support programmes; transformative education reform; and community development.

The Pan-African Youth Leadership Program is designed for students aged between 15 and 18 to explore priority policy themes such as civic education, climate resiliency, conflict resolution, economic development, entrepreneurship, respect for diversity, women’s empowerment, and youth leadership development.

The NYC is a dynamic and representative body driven by a powerful vision to empower and uplift the student community of Mauritius. The Council serves as a platform that unifies students from all walks of life enabling them to shape their educational journey, contribute to the society and prepare for a bright future.

The NYP is a unique educational programme bringing together young persons to discuss issues of national and international importance in a parliamentary setup.

It aims to enable the youth develop an interest and understanding of parliamentary history, etiquette and operations of the legislature with regard to the Constitution, Standing Orders and Rules of the National Assembly, parliamentary traditions, conventions and practice.
