Africa-Press – Mauritius. Africa and China have expressed their keenness to strengthen their ties in promoting green economy and sustainable industrial development.

A high-level seminar under the theme “China Supports Africa’s Industrialization: Promoting Green, Coordinated, and Sustainable Development,” is being convened today in Addis Ababa at ENA, bringing together senior officials and experts to discuss strengthening China-Africa cooperation.

The seminar featured keynote addresses from Chinese government representatives, African Union officials, UN entities, and leading think tanks from both continents.

Discussions centered on critical areas for Africa’s industrial transformation, including development strategy cooperation, new energy initiatives, intensive industries, and digital economy advancement.

Ambassador Jiang Feng, China’s Head of Mission to the African Union and Representative to the UN Economic Commission for Africa, delivered remarks alongside Ms. Lerato Dorothy Mataboge, the African Union Commission’s Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy along with Ethiopian officials.

The program highlighted collaborative approaches to sustainable industrialization, emphasizing environmentally conscious development pathways that align with both Chinese expertise and African developmental priorities.

Participants explored opportunities for enhanced partnership in green technology transfer, infrastructure development, and capacity building initiatives across the continent.

The seminar reflects ongoing efforts to deepen China-Africa cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative and Forum on China-Africa Cooperation frameworks, with particular focus on sustainable development goals and climate-friendly industrial practices.
