Africa-Press – Mauritius. A promotion exercise for some 111 employees of the Mauritius Post Ltd (MPL) was held, on Monday 08 May 2023 at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis, in the presence of the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin.

As such, 89 Assistant Postmen were promoted to the grade of Postman, while 22 Postmen will now assume the position of Senior Postman. In a statement, Minister Balgobin underlined that this exercise marks a new step for further progress in the career path of the promoted employees.

He rejoiced that the household of the promoted employees will benefit from the latters’ progress. The Minister also laid emphasis on the importance of grooming, good performance and discipline at work, so that quality service is delivered to the public.

As regards the job of postman, he stressed on the need to have a rapid and effective delivery service and added that the employees of the MPL require continuous training to improve productivity.

Furthermore, Minister Balgobin recalled that the Ten-Year Structuring Plan caters for the future of the MPL through, amongst others, digitalisation. He thus remarked that digitalisation will enable the MPL to become more competitive by providing new services such as the integration of trackers in letters and parcels.
