Africa-Press – Mauritius. In the context of the 50th Anniversary of the Deportation of the Chagossian community from the Chagos Archipelago to Mauritius, the Chagossian Welfare Fund organised on, Sunday 11 June 2023, a free medical check-up at the Chagossian Community Centre in Baie du Tombeau.
The objectives of the free screening were to provide medical services to Chagossians as well as to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle among the community.
The services included screenings for Non-Communicable Diseases; Blood Pressure Check; HIV Test; Cholesterol Test; Diabetes screening Test; Breast and Cervical Cancer Test; Blood donation. Anti-flu vaccines were also administered on the day.
