Africa-Press – Mauritius. A delegation comprising Members of the House of Representatives of Japan, who are currently on a two-day visit to Mauritius, paid a courtesy call, on the Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and External Communications, Minister for Rodrigues, Outer Islands and Territorial Integrity, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, today, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
The Japanese delegation comprised the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Association for the Friendship between Japan and Africa, Mr Daishiro Yamagiwa, and the Attorney-at-Law, Mr Hideki Makihara.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mauritius, Mr Shuichiro Kawaguchi, was also present on the occasion. In a statement, Mr Yamagiwa indicated that the meeting with the Prime Minister was fruitful and cordial.
He added that the purpose of the visit was to further deepen bilateral relations between the two island States. As for Mr Makihara, he pointed out that discussions focused on issues pertaining to the environment, water supply, infrastructure and maritime security.
