Africa-Press – Mauritius. The winners of the drama competition in Bhojpuri and Creole, organised by the Senior Citizen’s Council, were rewarded by the Minister of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Mrs Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, on 05 July 2023, during a prize giving ceremony at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Moka.
The competition aimed at facilitating access of the elderly to more activities such as theatre arts and drama and increased social interaction. They had the opportunity to network and form groups with individuals from different cultural backgrounds.
The participants were also provided training by the officers of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage at the Dr James Burty David Recreational Centre at Pointe aux Sables. The preliminaries were conducted on 25, 26 and 29 May 2023.
