Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Malartic Sports Complex situated in Quatre-Bornes, was inaugurated yesterday, by the Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, Mr. Kavydass Ramano, in presence of the Parliamentary Private Secretary, Mrs. Marie Alexandra Tania Diolle.
In his address on the occasion, Minister Ramano underlined the efforts of the Government to spearhead this infrastructural improvement project for the welfare of the residents of the region.
He also indicated that pupils of the nearby school, the Emilienne Rochecouste Government School, will be able to avail of the new infrastructure and added that a shelter was also constructed in its yard.
The Minister highlighted that the residents of the region will be able to engage in more social interactions, leisure activities and sports in the Sports Complex, which he emphasised is crucial to deal with the stressful environment in which we live nowadays.
Likewise, the PPS Tania Diolle stated that the provision of such public infrastructure will be beneficial to everyone in terms of keeping fit and maintaining a healthy lifestyle as well as to de-stress and spend relaxing moments within its midst.
She observed that the world is currently facing various challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impacts, and encouraged everyone to ease off their stress by availing of leisure and sports facilities being catered for by the Government.
In line with the vision for a cleaner and greener Mauritius, the Environment Ministry undertook upgrading works at the Malartic Sports Complex which consisted of the rehabilitation of the existing pétanque court, replacement of damaged fencing on the wall and construction of a wooden kiosk for an amount Rs.1,388,625. The objective of this project is to improve the quality of the environment for the welfare of the inhabitants and the general public.
