Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mr Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, inaugurated, yesterday in Ferney, a Containerised Pressure Filtration Plant, during an official ceremony organised by the Central Water Authority (CWA) in collaboration with Ferney Limited.

In his address, Minister Seeruttun highlighted that the project plays an important role in the region as it proposes a sustainable solution in terms of water supply for the inhabitants of the region. He called for the inhabitants of nearby villages, as well as to the CWA, to use the available water in a judicious and responsible manner.

Speaking about climatic change and its impact on water availability, the Minister underlined that Government has been implementing a series of support measures so as to ensure that every citizen has access to potable water regularly.

He moreover dwelt on some of the projects successfully implemented recently by the CWA across the island, and seized the opportunity to thank CIEL Group for the support it extends to the inhabitants of the region.

For his part, the CWA’s Director General observed that a series of works have been carried out by the CWA in the South East coastal region of the island.

He commended CIEL Group for its collaboration for the setting-up of this filtration plant, and remarked that, for the implementation of the medium-term Ferney project and the long-term Water Treatment Plant project, a lease agreement for a plot of land of extent of five acres for a period of 99 years has been signed between Ferney Limited and the CWA.

As for Mr Wong Wan Kin, he indicated that this project will enable some 1,600 families in the vicinity to receive water on a regular basis. He also reiterated CIEL Group’s support to Government so that the inhabitants of the region benefit from the public-private partnership. Containerised Pressure Filtration Plant
