Africa-Press – Mauritius. Having technical skills is not enough. We should be equipped with soft skills such as public speaking in order to make a difference in what we do in our daily lives, be it as a politician, a leader of an organisation or as a parent.
The Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mr Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, made this statement, this morning, during the launching of a two-day training course on public speaking, at the Maritim Hotel, in Balaclava.

Organised by the BeSmart Professionals School of Management and Finance Co Ltd, the two-day training, primarily aims at equipping individuals with the essentials of public speaking, under the coaching of the winner of the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking 2015, Mr Mohammed Qahtani.

The Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training, Mr Soodesh Satkam Callichurn, and other personalities were also present at the launching ceremony.

Besides highlighting the imperativeness of mastering the art of public speaking, Minister Seeruttun recalled Government’s commitment in promoting capacity-building through education and training.

He further underscored that various schemes have been introduced by the Human Resource Development Council in a bid to foster skill acquisition and competence development. Minister Seeruttun, moreover, commended Mr Qahtani for his expertise in public speaking.

In this vein, the Minister urged the participants present to leverage from the training to bridge the skills gap, to face the emerging challenges of the 21st century, as well as to enable them to engage in things differently.
