Africa-Press – Mauritius. Mrs Therese Claire Rose, bearing maiden name Coret and born on 29 January 1926, celebrated her 100th birthday last week during a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity in Pointe aux Sables.
The Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mrs Marie Arianne Navarre-Marie; the Junior Minister of the Ministry of Agro-Industry, Blue Economy and Fisheries, Mr Gilles Fabrice David; and the Junior Minister of the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Mr Kuvalayan Kugan Parapen, were present.
To honour the centenarian, the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity presented Mrs Rose with a flower bouquet; a centenarian medal; a certificate; an office chair; and a cheque of Rs 26,203. She also received a cheque of Rs 10,000 from the National Solidarity Fund and gifts from the Senior Citizens Council. Additionally, she is recipient of a Special Telephone Service.
Mrs Rose studied up to standard six. She got married to Mr Louis Eugene Rose at the age of 50. The couple did not have any child.
The new centenarian is non-vegetarian. She enjoys listening to the radio and watching television. Mrs Rose attributes her longevity to her unwavering faith in God and her healthy lifestyle.
