Africa-Press – Mauritius. The National Training and Reskilling Scheme (NTRS) Awareness Campaign aiming to train and reskill unemployed persons, was launched on 30 April 2022 at the Starlet Business Centre in Bambous. It is an initiative of the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Council.
The Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, the Parliamentary Private Secretary, Mr Nand Prakash Ramchurrun, and other personalities, were present.
Under this Scheme, training will be provided in various fields namely agro-industry; ICT/BPO; construction; mechanics and electronics; e-commerce; health care and medical devices; renewable energy and circular economy; beauty and hair treatment; garment making and transport and logistics.
The duration of the training courses will be of up to 6 months. In his address, Minister Ganoo stated that Government has come forward with the NTRS with the objective to train unemployed persons and facilitate their access to employment.
It is important for one to have a decent living and employment to make progress in life hence the NTRS programme that will upskill their knowledge and increase motivation, he added. Under this Scheme, he said, eligible trainees will benefit from a monthly stipend of Rs 10 575 as an incentive for the duration of their training.
He thus urged the unemployed and the youth to benefit from the NRTS training programmes that will not only provide a source of income but will also increase their visibility among employers.
Minister Ganoo also spoke of the possibility for the trainees to launch themselves in entrepreneurship and undertake new ventures in the fields that they have acquired skills and knowledge.
