Africa-Press – Mauritius. The newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Mauritius, Mr Oskar Benedikt, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this afternoon, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement, the EU Ambassador indicated that the meeting with the Prime Minister was very cordial and that discussions focused mainly on the longstanding relations between EU Member States and Mauritius.
Ambassador Benedikt expressed the strong wish to further reinforce collaboration and work together with Mauritius on issues pertaining to climate change and maritime security.
He reiterated the support of the EU to help Mauritius preserve its natural resources and combat illicit maritime drug trafficking and illegal fishing. Ambassador Benedikt is on four-year tenure as Ambassador of the European Union to Mauritius.
