Africa-Press – Mauritius. A new Post Office was inaugurated on Saturday 26 November 2022 in presence of the Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Mr Darsanand Balgobin, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Mauritius Post Ltd, Mr Giandev Moteea, at the Coeur de Ville in Tamarin.
In a statement, Minister Balgobin indicated that the opening of this new Post Office is a testimony of the joint collaboration of the Government and the Mauritius Post Ltd in view to improving the quality of local public services.
He spoke of the need for Post Offices to be located in strategic places so as to make postal services more accessible to the inhabitants. Mr Balgobin recalled that the relocation of the Post Office at the shopping mall of Cap Tamarin also forms part of the Shopping Mall Concept which brings services and shopping under one roof.
Customers can thus benefit from internet and digital services in a modern and spacious building, he added. The Minister pointed out that negotiations are ongoing with the Ministry of Land Transport and Light Rail, to facilitate the accessibility and proximity of the people to the Post Office by putting at their disposal shuttle bus services.
