Africa-Press – Mauritius. The National Housing Development Co Ltd (NHDC) Customer Service Centre, aiming to ease access to information and increase proximity between services and citizens, was inaugurated, this afternoon, in presence of the Acting Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, Minister of Tourism, Mr Louis Steven Obeegadoo, at the NPF Building in Rose-Hill.

The Minister of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Mrs Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, the Group Chairman of the NHDC, Mr Ehsan Abdool Rahman, as well as other personalities were present.

On this occasion, the new logo of the NHDC was also unveiled in view to enhance its visibility among the population. In his address, the Acting Prime Minister underlined that the NHDC Customer Service Centre is in line with Government’s vision to provide efficient and high-quality services to the citizens.

The Customer Service Centre, he stated, will help deal with queries and complaints in a more effective and timely manner thereby enhancing the quality of life of citizens.

The Government through the NHDC has adopted a people-centred strategy by coming up with such initiatives that will highly benefit the population, he stated.

He recalled that the CHA building concept was replaced by the NHDC in 1991 and since, the NHDC has delivered around 158 projects comprising 16 643 houses.

Mr Obeegadoo indicated that despite the prevalence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the NHDC has completed construction of some 2 500 housing units from 2019 till 2023.

He is hopeful that around 1 000 housing units will be delivered by the NHDC by the end of next year in several regions namely Solitude, Sebastopol, Henrietta, Glen Park, Wooton, Melrose, and Quatre- Cocos.

He also spoke of the initiatives taken by the NHDC to provide better infrastructure, improved services and innovative housing concepts so as to keep pace with new trends and better respond to the expectations of the population.

For his part, Mr Rahman, informed that the main aim is to enhance the infrastructure and ensure that employers who are at the streamline provide their support and assistance to people in need for information and those seeking to complete their procedures.

He also mentioned that the NHDC as well as the New Social Living Development Ltd are accelerating their housing estate projects for the welfare of population.
