Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Pakistan Week 2022 was officially launched, on Wednesday 24 August 2022, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade in Port Louis. Activities for the Pakistan Week will be held from 02 September to 08 September 2022.

On that occasion, the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Mauritius, Mr Muhammed Arshad Jan Pathan, called on the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo.

In a statement following the meeting, High Commissioner Pathan said that he was grateful to the Government of Mauritius, in particular to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, and Arts and Cultural Heritage for facilitating the High Commission in organising all the activities for this Pakistan Week.

Pakistan Week, Mr Pathan underlined, is being held to mark two important occasions at the same time, namely the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Mauritius.

On this score, the High Commissioner invited all Mauritians to come and enjoy the festivities and entertainments that the High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan would be offering in terms of film festivals, food festivals, and sports activities, among others.

Pakistan Week 2022 Festivities and entertainments that will be organised during the Pakistan Week are as follows: 02 to 04 September 2022: Pakistan Film Festival at MCine Cinemas of Trianon, Flacq and Caudan;

03 September 2022: Cricket Match at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Cricket Ground Stadium;

05 September 2022: Qawali/ Sufi Night by Marifat Sufi Band Pakistan at the Serge Constantin Theatre in Vacoas;

06 to 07 September 2022: Painting and Photographic Exhibition; Handicrafts stalls and Pakistan Food Festival at the Islamic Cultural Centre in Port Louis; and

08 September 2022: Musical Concert by Faisal Kapadia at the J&J Auditorium in Phoenix.
