Winners of the Essay, Quiz, Scrabble and Domino Competition organised by the Public Officers’ Welfare Council (POWC), were rewarded, this afternoon, with a shield and cash prize by the Minister of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms, Mr Teeruthraj Hurdoyal, during a prize giving ceremony held in Port Louis.
The winner of the Essay competition 2021, Mr Khodabocus Mamad Feisal, received a shield and a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while the winner of the Quiz competition 2022, Mr Frédéric Fabrice, received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
As for the winning team of the Domino competition, consisting of Mr Pravesh Gobin, Mr Zaid Toofany, and Mr Akhtar Jeeawody, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5, 000 were remitted to them.
The winner of the Scrabble competition, category A, Mr Bijaye Ramruttun, received a trophy and Rs 5,000 while the winner of the category B, Mr Ayrga Ankesh, received a trophy and Rs 3,000.
In his address, the Minister highlighted that the POWC organises various activities for all public officers each year and urged for more participation.
He underpinned the importance of practising fitness and leisure activities, and emphasised that the POWC is providing a platform for all civil servants to indulge in these activities as well as an opportunity to explore their hidden talents.
Mr Teeruthraj Hurdoyal stressed that the welfare of all public officers remains at the core of his agenda. Furthermore, he lauded the hard work, support and unflinching efforts of all public officers to ensure the smooth functioning of the public service sector.
He also underlined the contribution of all retired civil servants who enabled the progress of the public service. As for the new recruits, Minister Hurdoyal encouraged them to work with devotion to help bring forth the planned reform of the public service.
