Africa-Press – Mauritius. The first Emotional Well-Being International Conference 2023 focusing on the theme ‘Advancing the understanding and impacts of emotional well-being towards flourishing societies’, kickstarted yesterday, at the Pearle Beach Resort, Flic-en-Flac.
The first edition of the International Conference is being hosted in Mauritius and will span up to 21 July 2023. It is a joint endeavour of the Emotional Well-Being Institute, the Open University of Mauritius and Middlesex University – Mauritius.
The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun graced the event, which was also attended by other eminent personalities. In his keynote speech, President Roopun underlined that the event has gathered key speakers from diverse backgrounds to share their insights on Emotional well-being, which he emphasised is a crucial issue in our existence.
He commended the initiative for caring for humanity and for contributing to make a big difference through the small changes it will bring about. Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun remarked that the desires to find solace, happiness and attain one’s well-being, are cherished by everyone.
According to him, in order to attain emotional wellbeing, one should strike a balance between prioritising his material and physical wellbeing with his emotional and mental states.
The need for a positive attitude, undertaking more interaction with people around us as well as connecting with our environment was underpinned by the President.
Furthermore, President Roopun recalled that Mauritius is famously known to be the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, adding that the country is blessed with a multicultural society, political stability and peace.
He attributed it to the country’s openness in terms of attitude, culture, national and international policy, and willingness to be accommodating while remaining resolutely attached to its fundamentals.
As regards the economic model that the country adheres to, the President observed along with taking benefit from the creation of wealth, we should aspire to tackle any inequities that may sprout from it.
Objectives of the Emotional Well-Being International Conference 2023 The Conference aims to reflect, to get answers, to interact, and to create opportunities on how to navigate the essential field of ‘Emotional well-being’.
It seeks to create an opportunity to be an influence for change, and to deliver the benefits of emotional well-being to communities and societies through positive engagement.
