Africa-Press – Mauritius. The President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan, who was invited as the Chief Guest to grace the activities held in the context of the recent Commemoration of the 189th Anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery, left Mauritius this afternoon.

Mr Wavel Ramkalawan was met by the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth; the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, Minister of Tourism, Mr Louis Steven Obeegadoo; and the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

Also present on the occasion were the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck and the Commissioner of Police, Mr Anil Kumarsing Dip.

During his four-day visit, the President expressed solidarity with Mauritius during the symbolic celebration of the abolition of slavery and reaffirmed Seychelles’ unwavering support to the country. Besides, Mr Wavel Ramkalawan renewed his Government’s will to strengthen the existing ties with Mauritius.
