Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Online Training Course for Evaluators, an initiative of the Central Procurement Board (CPB) in close collaboration with the Civil Service College, Mauritius (CSCM), was officially launched, this morning, at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, in Port Louis.
The online course is geared towards endowing bid evaluators of Public Bodies with the necessary core competencies, in a bid to boost the efficiency, soundness and accountability of public fund utilisation.
The Chairperson, CPB, Mr Raj Hemansing Prayag, the Director General, CSCM, Prof Ramesh Durbarry, the Vice-Chairperson, CPB, Mr Swaminathan Ragen as well as other stakeholders attended the launch event.
In his address, Mr Prayag stressed on the imperativeness of undertaking the online training course to become well-conversant with the Public Procurement Act 2006.
The Chairperson announced that, henceforth, the CPB will allow only those evaluators who have successfully completed the course to engage in evaluation procedures. Hence, he urged the registered bid evaluators to leverage from the online course, provided free of charge.
For his part, Prof Durbarry underscored the capacity-building role of the Online Training Course for Evaluators in the objective selection of the most appropriate bidder.
He, moreover, encouraged the evaluators to actively engage in the online discussion forums. He informed that the participants will be assessed on the learning outcomes for each module. The modules, he pointed out, will be reviewed and adapted to keep up with the evolution of procurement.
