Africa-Press – Mauritius. Pupils from Grand Bois Government School were offered, yesterday, oral health kits with the aim of sensitising them on the importance of good oral hygiene and learn the ways to protect and improve their oral health.
The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Kailesh Kumar Singh Jagutpal, and other personalities were present in a ceremony held for the occasion. The kit comprises a pamphlet, bookmark, toothpaste and toothbrush. The pupils were also given a presentation on tooth brushing techniques as well as on the nutritional guidelines on diet for optimum oral health.

The distribution of oral health kits to students is part of activities organised by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, in the context of the Oral Health Month.
The target is to raise awareness about good oral hygiene among the 76,000 primary pupils of Mauritius and Rodrigues over the next six months. It is recalled that the Ministry of Health and Wellness, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organisation, has elaborated a National Action Plan for Oral Health for the period 2022-2027. The objective is to reduce the prevalence of oral diseases and improve oral health.
