Africa-Press – Mauritius. Real Madrid announced on Friday that it has signed 17-year-old Franco Mastantuono, a midfielder, on a six-year contract from River Plate of Argentina.
For almost $45 million, the Spanish team agreed to sign Mastantuono last week.
The gifted adolescent, who can also play on the flank, will join Real Madrid on August 14.
Mastantuono, a product of River Plate’s youth system, played for the main squad in 2024–25. In February of last year, he became River’s youngest-ever scorer.
Having been linked to elite European clubs like Manchester United and Paris St Germain following a spectacular free kick in River Plate’s Superclasico victory over Boca Juniors in April, he also became the youngest player to play an official match for Argentina when he participated in their World Cup qualifier against Chile last week at the age of 17.
He is Real Madrid’s third close-season addition after they signed Premier League defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
