Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, of the World Bank Group, Ms Victoria Kwakwa, paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, today, at the State House in Reduit.
In a statement, Ms Kwakwa, indicated that she is on her first visit to Mauritius and that she is very delighted to be here· The purpose of her visit, she said, is to celebrate Mauritius success.
The Regional Vice President, highlighted that the World Bank and Mauritius share a longstanding and successful partnership. She underlined that both Mauritius and the World Bank will continue to craft a partnership that will help the country to achieve greater heights as well as benefits other countries.
Ms Victoria Kwakwa, a Ghanaian national, is an economist and development expert with over 30 years of experience. She oversees an active portfolio of 313 operations totaling $58 billion and an extensive program of cutting-edge analytic work, technical assistance, and policy advice.
Prior to her appointment as Regional Vice President for Eastern and Southern Africa, of the World Bank Group, on July 1, 2022, she served as the Vice President for Corporate Strategic Initiatives, working closely with the World Bank Managing Director of Operations and other operational and corporate units on select high priority initiatives.
She also served as the Vice President for East Asia Pacific from April 2016 to August 2021, where she led the Bank’s engagement with 23 diverse clients ranging from countries on the cusp of high income, established middle income, to lower middle-income countries.
