Site visit carried out regarding road infrastructure in Flic en Flac and St Pierre

The Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr Mahendranuth Sharma Hurreeram, effected several site visits, yesterday, to take stock of progress regarding works for the Grade-separated junction Verdun-St Pierre, La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes-Flic en Flac link road phase 1, and La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes-Flic en Flac link road phase 2.

In a statement, Minister Hurreeram expressed satisfaction as regards the progress of works at the different sites. He pointed out that the country was a vast construction site with the ongoing infrastructural developments.

He reiterated the firm determination of Government to ensure that the projects would be completed on time to better cater for the welfare of the population while enhancing their quality of life.

The project La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes-Flic en Flac link road phase 1, of a stretch of 6.2 km, is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

The project, amounting to around Rs 750 million, aims at easing the flow of traffic connecting commuters to the west of the country. The La Vigie-La Brasserie-Beaux Songes-Flic en Flac link road project phase 2, of a stretch of 9.5 km, is estimated at Rs 1.5 billion.

Works are expected to be completed by October 2024. As for the Grade-separated junction at Verdun-St Pierre, it will cost around Rs 451 million. The status of the project stands at 40% and works are expected to be completed by April 2024. The Grade-separated junction will contribute largely in the decongestion of traffic.
