Africa-Press – Mauritius. Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam attended yesterday’s swearing-in ceremony of the new President of the Republic of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, as the guest of honor. This marks the second time the Prime Minister has taken part in a presidential inauguration in Seychelles, underscoring the close and enduring relationship between the two island nations.

The occasion also symbolizes the shared vision of both nations to promote cooperation, solidarity, and sustainable development within the framework of the Indian Ocean Commission.

The participation of Prime Minister Ramgoolam in such high-level regional events highlights Mauritius’s proactive role in fostering unity and partnership across the Indian Ocean region. It also signals a desire to reinforce mutual trust and collaboration in addressing common challenges and opportunities.

On the sidelines of the inauguration, Prime Minister Ramgoolam held talks with the Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for deepening bilateral relations, particularly in areas of trade, investment, education, and technology exchange.

These engagements reaffirm Mauritius’s strategic position as a bridge between Africa and Asia, and as a driving force in promoting regional dialogue, cooperation, and shared prosperity among its partners.
