Africa-Press – Mauritius. In the context of the Tamil New Year which will be celebrated on Thursday 14 April 2022, the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, launched a video clip, today, at the seat of his Ministry in Port-Louis.
The clip, an initiative of the Mauritius Tamil Cultural Centre Trust which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, aims to put forth cultural values and ancestral traditions.
In his speech, Minister Teeluck expressed satisfaction with regards to the launch of the clip which has as objective to further promote the cultural values of the Tamil community.
He lauded the initiative of the Centre which always comes up with new projects and activities. The Minister recalled that Cultural Centres across the country underwent a difficult situation amid the COVID-19 pandemic with a reduction in expenditures.
He further dwelt on the importance of valorising culture, especially the sacrifices of the ancestors in building Mauritius. The chairman of the Mauritius Tamil Cultural Centre Trust, Dr Adi Sankara Peruman, OSK, also present, pointed out that the clip, locally produced with Mauritian artists seeks to pay hommage to ancestors coming from India.
