Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Tamil Speaking Union launched a series of Spoken Tamil Courses with Culture, in the presence of the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, on Sunday 19 March 2023, at the Siva Soopramaniar Kovil Hall in Goodlands.

In his address, the Minister underpinned the importance of this initiative in contributing to preserve the Tamil culture in Mauritius. He remarked that Mauritius has a rich multicultural fabric, and that it is thus crucial to promote all cultures, religions and practices.

Minister Avinash Teeluck also laid emphasis on the importance of upholding one’s Mauritian identity for he stressed, our identities are interlinked with the Nation and the Motherland.

Furthermore, the Minister observed that Mauritius’ cultural uniqueness and richness is characterised by the respect that is given to all communities which should be preserved.

Besides, Mr Avinash Teeluck renewed his support for all endeavours that are geared towards promoting the perpetuation of culture and arts in the community. He also applauded the laudable work being made by sociocultural associations to this end.
