Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America (U. S) Embassy in Mauritius, Ms Judes E. DeBaere, paid a farewell call, this afternoon, on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis.

In a statement following the meeting, the outgoing Chargé d’Affaires said that she has spent a wonderful three years in Mauritius and expressed satisfaction to have been part of the Mauritian diplomatic community.

Ms DeBaere further stated that she found the relationships with the Government of Mauritius to be strongly beneficial and supportive to the bilateral relationships.

“It was so nice to have known the Mauritian people and culture, where the cultural and social harmony that prevails is exemplary to the rest of the world,” she pointed out.

Discussions, the Chargé d’Affaires indicated, focused mainly on current events in America and also on the very good relationship that we shared through the COVID-19 vaccines.

“The USA was very willing to donate vaccines to Mauritius as the country had implemented the infrastructure required to get the vaccines to the population”, Ms DeBaere pointed out.

She further underlined that Mauritius is a great example to be followed in Africa and by the rest of the world as regards the effective administration of vaccines against COVID-19.

Ms Judes E. DeBaere assumed her duties as Deputy Chief of Mission in Mauritius in June 2019. She served previously in Oman as Management Officer and Abu Dhabi as Management Counsellor. Prior to that, she was Chief of Protocol to Ambassadors in Iraq and served as Management Officer in Burundi and Italy.
