Africa-Press – Mauritius. Prime Minister Mr. Pravind Jugnauth addressed the high-level panel on strengthening health systems in Africa through public-private sector collaboration. Pravind Jugnauth thus underlined that in Mauritius 70% of the population turns to the public sector for medical needs but that the Health Sector Strategic Plan 2020-2024 has established the bases for more collaboration between the public and the private sector.

Pravind Jugnauth also recalled that the need for more collaboration between the private and public sector in the medical field remains a necessity in order to achieve the sustainable development objectives established by the United Nations and the Agenda 2063 of the African Union.
The Prime Minister added that governments have a duty to ensure that values such as equity, solidarity and justice are respected, hence the need to move forward with regulatory frameworks governing prices practiced, quality of service, accountability and alignment of private activities with national priorities.
