Africa-Press – Mauritius. A co-creation and business networking workshop, opened, today in St Pierre, with members of the Made in Moris label and players in the tourism sector.
The workshop is a joint initiative of the Tourism Authority, the Made in Moris label, and the Collaborating Center on Sustainable Consumption & Production (CSCP) firm. A toolkit on the co-creation of sustainable tourism services, experiences, and products was also launched during the workshop.
Through its participation in the series of activities being held in the context of the first Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards, an initiative of the Tourism Authority, the Made in Moris label is seeking to consolidate its integration into the tourism industry .
These awards are part of the Sustainable Island Mauritius programme, facilitated by the German firm Collaborating Center on Sustainable Consumption & Production. This programme is funded by the European Union and Switch Africa Green with the objective of greening the Value Chain of Tour Operators.
In his address on the occasion, the Director of the Tourism Authority, Mr Lindsay Morvan, spoke about the importance of creating a new model for the Mauritian tourism industry.
He dwelt on the importance of aligning tourist activities, products, and services to the new expectations of tourists visiting the country. According to him, a sustainable and resilient tourist industry is key to drive change forward.
