Africa-Press – Mauritius. African Union leaders once again discussed their stance towards Israel, and while the matter didn’t dominate discussions like in the previous two summits, three countries showed strong support.

Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo defended Israel during a debate on whether the African Union should express support for Gaza, where up to 29,000 Palestinians, including a large number of civilians, have been killed by Israel since an offensive by militant group Hamas on Israel began on 7 October.
