UNDP Boosts Collaboration for Environment and Climate Change

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for Mauritius and Seychelles, Ms Alka Bhatia, paid a courtesy call yesterday on the Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, Mr Rajesh Anand Bhagwan, in his office.

Discussions during the meeting, held in Port Louis, focussed on strengthening cooperation in priority environmental and climate-related areas.

Ms Bhatia rejoiced at UNDP’s strong partnership with Mauritius, recalling that nearly USD 40 million has been invested over a ten-year period starting from 2017 in various environmental sustainability projects related to as climate change and adaptation initiatives.

She also underlined the close working relationship with the Ministry while reiterating the UNDP’s readiness to pursue more innovative initiatives to combat climate change and reduce pollution.
