US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources meets Prime Minister Jugnauth

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The United States (US) Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, Mr Richard Rahul Verma, met the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, this morning, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis.

In a statement after the meeting, US Deputy Secretary Verma underlined that discussions with the Prime Minister pertained to reaffirming the United States of America commitment to the bilateral ties it shares with Mauritius.

The meeting, Mr Verma emphasised, focused on all the elements that strengthen our bilateral relationship, namely our works on climate change, on security as regards the economy and people-to-people ties.

“We essentially concentrated on our democratic values which is the basis of our relationship,” he said.

The US Deputy Secretary also spoke of the construction of the new US Embassy, a three hundred million US dollar project to span over three years, in Mauritius.

“We are very excited about this project as it shows our deepening commitment to the people of Mauritius and to this region,” he stated.
