Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookhun-Luchoomun, received, today, in Phoenix, a delegation from two Parliamentary Committees of the National Assembly of Namibia namely, the Standing Committee on Human Resources and Community Development, led by the MP, Chairperson, Mrs Gerhardine Nono Katjingisiua, and the Standing Committee on Economics and Public Administration, led by the MP, Mr Mathias Mbundu.
The Parliamentarians from Namibia are currently in Mauritius to share experiences on matters relating to youth empowerment programme with a view to promoting and improving the quality of life of young persons.
In a statement after the meeting, MP Katjingisiua pointed out that the purpose of their visit is to benchmark on best practices of Mauritius and to learn from the Mauritian example.
Mauritius, she said, is ranked third in Africa for its education system. Discussions during the meeting with the Vice-Prime Minister focused on the curriculum of the educational sector, training and university programmes, she added.
Following the meeting with Vice-Prime Minister Dookun-Luchoomun, the Namibian delegates had interactive sessions with Senior Officers of the Ministry.
