Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Prime Minister had a working meeting with the US Assistant Secretary of State this Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Mr. Pravind Jugnauth and Ms. Wendy Sherman reviewed relations between Mauritius and the United States.

In particular, concerted action was discussed with regard to the protection of our maritime space. Discussions also focused on opportunities for further trade and investment cooperation.

The Prime Minister also participated in two round tables during the U. S – Africa Business Forum. The roundtables focused on infrastructure and the energy transition and on trade and investment relations between the United States and Africa.

Mr. Pravind Jugnauth also had a meeting with the President of Kenya, William Ruto. Discussions focused on investment opportunities between the two countries and the agenda of the next Mauritius-Kenya Joint Commission scheduled for Mauritius next year.

The Prime Minister also had a working session with Sarah Bianchi, the United States Foreign Trade Assistant. In particular, trade relations between Mauritius and the United States and the future of AGOA were discussed.

The Prime Minister also attended the US President’s address at the 2022 US-Africa Leaders Summit. Joe Biden spoke about the renewed US commitment to investing more in Africa.
